A narrative poem tells a story. It is about a person but it only tells part of that person's life. A narrative poem can also describe someone using parts of their life. Each line has 10-12 syllables. There is an explantion on the bottom of the page.
Martin Luther king, a strong hearted person.
He was always fighting for his people's cause.
He didn't give up as the fight starts to worsen.
Every speech he said always ended with applause.
There was a reason for all of his speaking:
He was looking for black integration.
His speeches were as powerful as preaching
About the end of black segregation.
With his most famous speech of I have a dream,
He touched the hearts and souls of millions of people.
Now not only blacks made up his growing team,
Which made up his cause's gigantic steeple.
Martin Luther king, he had many dreams.
But his most prized were for many, not just him.
Through his many speeches, his burning passion gleams.
But the consequences for his talent were grim.
Because he speaks in front of people so well,
Hate rises among those who like segregation.
It cuts a scrape in their control that starts to swell.
They go to extremes to stop their situation.
The king goes down to give a speech in
But he has no idea what he has in store.
One second he'd be at his hotel drinking tea,
Then heaven'd be the next place he'd be heading for.
He was standing still on the second floor
But next he'd be knocking on heaven's door,
Watching down below, a frantic mess displaying

This poem had two topics. The first three stanzas told who martin Luther king was. Then the fourth stanza was a transition to the second topic. The last three stanzas were about the end of martin Luther king's life. Martin Luther king’s most famous speech was the "I Have a Dream speech". I chose this person because he is one of the most inspirational figures to live. I think that participation in the civil rights movement was a very brave thing. The fact that he is a leader of the movement makes him even braver. I also think that his incredible ability to speak in front of thousands of people is quite amazing as well.
